Hello and welcome to my blog! Let me introduce myself: My name is Grace and the one thing you should know about me is that I love food. I love everything from house rolls to a nicely seasoned hangar steak to a cup of fried rice to a delicious chocolate chip cookies.
I grew up with a mom who loves to cook and bake for her family. I spent my younger days watching her crack open an egg, seasoned a perfect roasted chicken, and bake a delicious egg tart (my favorite dessert!). When I went to college, I took what I learned those 17 some years with me and I began to cook on my own – recipes of meals that have inspired me, dreaming of recipes that I put in my imaginary cookbook, and recipes that have been in my family through generations and across lineages. Luckily for me, my roommates in college were also fond of cooking and baking. We would cook together, bake together, and share many meals together.
After graduation, however, my culinary life came to a halt. I discovered strangely enough that once you start working, your schedule is always set: wake up at 5:30 am, leave the house by 6:30 am, commute to work, get to work by 8 am, work, work, work, quick lunch, work, work, and more work. By the time you get home (if you don’t have to work late anyways), you’re exhausted and you just want to shower and fall asleep while watching Orange is the New Black on Netflix.
Recently, however, I came to the realization that my life is empty without food and no, it’s not because I have a unhealthy relationship with food. I just find the entire process of cooking and baking – from preparation to the cleaning (yes, I love doing dishes!) – to be relaxing and one of the most enjoyable things I find in life.
I hope that this blog will allow me to capture my love and passion for food in my adulthood, a chance to reach a global network of food enthusiasts where we can all share recipes, and finally, an opportunity for me to learn more about the food world.
